Complimentary morning yoga sessions were a recent addition to our generous all-inclusive offering on North Island. With the growing trend of healthy holistic living, the classes have proven to be very popular and well attended by our guests. Having only 11 villas on North Island means the complimentary ‘group’ sessions feel much more like private yoga classes*.
At North Island our spa therapists are also trained yoga instructors from Indonesia, one of the great homes of yoga. They practice Hatha Yoga, a form of yoga that focuses on asanas and pranayama (for non-yoga gurus: a variety of yoga postures and breathing exercises). However, on North you inadvertently also have the benefits of Bikram Yoga – who needs a heated room when you have the natural warmth of the Seychelles.
Our classes are for yoga novices and addicts alike. Our instructors quietly assess the guests’ level of expertise and adjust the pace of the class accordingly. Yoga is not only a great way to get a daily dose of exercise, but also to relax and unwind both body and mind. For a lot of guests, a holiday on North Island is a form of detox in itself, a release from the busy-ness of business and the frenetic world around them.
*Private yoga is also available as an optional extra. Guests can choose to have their sessions anywhere and anytime they like – in the privacy of their villa, in the gym, outdoors or even on the beach.
