Simon Washika has been on North Island since early 2014 but is still considered a “newcomer,” given that many of the current team were also part of the original opening team. Nicknamed “Smiley” for his permanently sunny disposition, Simon has made his mark on North Island and expertly carries out his role as villa attendant, a vital position that plays a huge part in the overall guest experience. Villa attendants act as private butlers to their guests and understand that true luxury is in the eye of the beholder – it can mean something different to each guest. Simon and his colleagues are able to deliver a highly personalised experience for every one of our guests on the Island by expertly fulfilling their service requirements.

Simon was born and raised in Kenya and is the champion runner amongst our team despite being challenged many times. He can be seen training late every afternoon wearing his signature red earphones in an attempt to improve on his personal best for 10 km, which is already an incredibly fast 32 minutes.
