Detox, relax and unwind at the North Island Spa with Subtle Energies
On arrival, guests are invited to slip into barefoot-luxury island life and ready themselves for the journey that begins on North Island at the Spa. A tranquil sanctuary perched on the stunning slopes of Spa Hill, that aims to provide holistic wellness through its new and exclusive Subtle Energies treatment menu. Founded on authentic Ayurveda principles and designed with over 20 years of clinical experience, the Subtle Energies range is created with intent and made to empower.

Each guest travelling during September and October will be treated to a complimentary 90-minute Detox and Adrenal Treatment, that begins with a full detox exfoliation and concludes with Subtle Energies’ signature massage that will release tension, encourage lymphatic drainage and work the Marmas. A comprehensive purification process using potent active ingredients such as Tulasi, Wild Turmeric and Indian Lime that work towards blood purification, energising and stimulating the cells and lymphatics whilst also boosting adrenal fatigue.

Guests will also be pampered with special gifts sponsored by Subtle Energies, with dedicated program-enhancing kits available for purchase in North Island’s bespoke Boutique, that work to support guests’ wellness goals throughout their stay at North Island.

Restore harmony and balance through yoga with Hatha-trained instructors
Guests can begin each day on North Island with a complimentary 1-hour yoga session every morning. Private classes are also available as an optional paid extra at anytime and anywhere on the Island, from the privacy of the villa to the comfort of the air-conditioned Gym. From beach yoga sessions on the white-sand shores of West Beach to SUP yoga sessions on the calm, crystal-clear waters around North Island, the choices are many and varied.

For a more energetic workout, the Gym offers state-of-the-art Technogym equipment for cardiovascular and weight training. Overlooking the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean, the facility incorporates a circumference of glass, framing some of the most spectacular views on the Island.

Experience truly unique GYROTONIC® fitness classes with Lorelei Bulan
North Island’s Spa & Gym has brought onboard an international wellness practitioner, Lorelei Bulan – a certified GYROTONIC® Trainer, dance artist and Ayurveda advocate, renowned for her holistic approach to fitness and health. Lorelei will be offering two 1-hour fully-inclusive classes every day during September and October.

The morning class focuses on stimulating the central nervous system with Spinal Motions for a taller and healthy spine as well as opening joints and expanding muscles to decompress tightness and lengthen the body in all directions. While keeping the body energised, the class strengthens abdominals with leg work and arm routines. All exercises are natural fluid movements that are gentle on the body but internally powerful.

An afternoon class helps guests unwind with meditative therapeutic breathing motions to relax the senses and silence the mind. Breathing into the chakras using circular motions calms energy centres and therapeutic movement exercises explore focus, trust, space and being grounded to the earth. Guided meditation brings oneself to unity of the mind, body and soul.

Additional GYROTONIC® classes are also available on a one-on-one basis as an optional paid extra. Private classes are personalised to guests’ needs in consultation with Lorelei, building a bespoke wellness program by incorporating a series of unique classes from ‘organic flexibility and balance’ to ‘meditation and unwinding’.

Nourish the body and boost wellbeing with holistic nutrition with Farrell Hirsch and Naul Shelton
North Island’s Executive Chef, Farrell Hirsch, brings a fresh take to dining on the Island with a new range of chef’s suggestions, designed to heal from the inside out. Driving a novel gastronomic experience in September and October, Farrell has brought in Naul Shelton, a specialist chef who will be focused solely on holistic nutrition on North Island. There will be a strong focus on healthy, raw food, foraged ingredients and plant-based diets, components of which will feature in each of the food offerings across the Island, from the private pantry in the villa to fine-dining menus in the Piazza.

From the moment guests arrive, they will be greeted with fresh, light welcome snacks, bursting with flavour and energy to replenish oneself after travel. Naul will be dedicated to providing a private experience and will meet guests with Farrell at their leisure in order to design bespoke menus in consultation with them during their stay. Naul will be available as a private chef, cooking for guests in any of the many intimate dining venues across the Island. Guests also have the opportunity to learn how to cook from a holistic specialist who inspires awareness of a wholesome way of eating.

North Island’s cuisine is deeply connected to the spirit of the Island and menus will be inspired by the flavours of the Seychelles. The food will be rooted in fresh and seasonal organic produce that is grown on the Island itself. Chefs harvest fruits, vegetables and herbs from the North Island garden on a daily basis, along with fresh fish and seafood that they catch themselves. Catch your own and cook it on the beach with Naul over an open-fire.

During September and October, guests can join Naul while foraging the Island for tropical wild produce, from juicy citrus fruit to tiny sweet bananas. Watch fresh coconuts cut down from tall palm trees, and trunks peeled open, layer by layer, to reveal its delicate core – fresh palm heart. Having previously worked on the Island, Naul knows all of the secret spots for the best locally-grown ingredients, from the iron-rich spinach growing in the fresh water marshes to seaweed plucked from the shores of West Beach.

Lemongrass is picked from the Island for your iced tea, and zesty wild oranges and granadillas feature in signature cocktails. Bartenders will be at the ready to prepare bespoke super-food smoothies and fresh juices to complement yoga and fitness classes. Guests will also find a NutriBullet® in their villa, allowing them to design their own drinks by extracting whole fruits and vegetables, completely breaking down ingredients into their most nutritious and absorptive state, to supercharge each day on North Island.

Immerse oneself in North Island’s environment – a haven for self-restoration – and learn from Conservationists
As a luxurious ecotourism destination, renowned for its progressive island rehabilitation project, the Island’s ambient wellness will draw guests into its natural splendor. Once a plantation overrun with invasive plant and animal species, North Island is now a sanctuary for endangered Seychellois wildlife.

Guests can spend time with resident Environmentalists on guided hikes up the granite peaks on the Island; the perfect opportunity to exercise and enjoy spectacular 360-degree views across the Indian Ocean, whilst learning about the endemic fauna and flora on the Island. Meet ancient Giant Aldabra tortoises on the Plateaux along the way and spot the rare Seychelles White-eye hiding in the lush palm forests – both species successfully reintroduced to North Island and given a place to flourish once more.

There’s ample opportunity for interested guests to engage further with conservationists, whether over an informative presentation in the historic Library or by getting involved in their activities. Join a morning beach patrol on the lookout for critically-endangered Hawksbill turtles nesting on North Island’s shores or take a dive slate out on a diving trip to assist with identifying key species on North Island’s colourful reefs.
