September 2013 – Wilderness Collection is delighted to announce that North Island in Seychelles has been listed fourth best hotel in the Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean category in the 16th annual Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards.
“We are extremely proud of our team at North Island who continue to go the extra mile to delight our guests, the readers of Condé Nast, who have in turn voted for us amongst the world’s best travel experiences. North Island is ten years old this year and more glorious than ever, so we are very pleased to be part of this prestigious listing and of our ongoing efforts to create a life-changing and authentic beach safari experience for our guests”, said Bruce Simpson, Wilderness Collection’s Chief Operating Officer.
Hundreds of readers voted for their favourite hotels, airlines, spas and countries in this annual reader’s survey to showcase the best that the travel world has to offer. North Island is well-known for its “barefoot luxury” concept, offering unparalleled levels of sophistication and comfort, together with embracing and embodying the conservation and ecological ideals of the Wilderness Collection. “This endorsement proves that these concepts can indeed go hand in hand, and we are thrilled that this has been recognised by such discerning travellers”, Simpson added.
Situated 30km from the main island of Mahé, North Island is extremely isolated and renowned for its luminous white beaches, filigree reefs and azure Indian Ocean. Comprising only 11 guest villas, North Island is a sanctuary where natural habitats, long neglected, were rehabilitated so that endangered Seychelles fauna and flora could be reintroduced and given a place to grow and thrive.
The 2013 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards are published in the magazine’s October edition and available online at www.cntraveller.co.uk.
