joins the Relais & Châteaux family

By October 30, 2017Press Release

October 2017 – North Island has joined Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious luxury hotel association established around the globe, from the Napa Valley vineyards and French Provence to the beaches of the Indian Ocean.

North Island’s Managing Director, Bruce Simpson says he “is delighted to align with Relais & Châteaux, a world-renowned association which shares the values and philosophy of North Island”. Relais & Châteaux is a union of kindred spirits and shared enthusiasm. Quality is at its core with a focus on a high standard of service, outstanding cuisine and a specific approach to the concept of “art de vivre”.

Relais & Châteaux members are driven by a passion for hospitality – “Hoteliers, restaurateurs must speak from the heart” was Marcel Tilloy’s recommendation over 60 years ago when he founded the association in 1954; it still rings true today. Similarly, at North Island there’s a genuine desire for authenticity and sincerity, fostering warm, welcoming and generous service. North Island aims to spoil and surprise each guest and tailor-make experiences during every stay.

The following description could not be more true at North Island: “The experiences one has at Relais & Châteaux properties give one the feeling of total immersion in a place, allowing them to be discovered from up close with all that they have to offer”. North’s generous all-inclusive offering provides the luxury of choice and freedom to make the most out of one’s stay. A diverse range of activities is available and guests’ private Villa Attendant and Guest Experience Host are on hand to curate private experiences on the Island.

Relais & Châteaux celebrates the richness and diversity of the world’s cuisine, valuing the “selection of ingredients, honed techniques, and perceptive associations of flavours” – all of which combine to create “an art of true excellence in perfect harmony with an idyllic setting”.

North’s menu is inspired by the flavours of the Seychelles offering international as well as Creole cuisine with a modern twist. The food is rooted in fresh and seasonal organic produce that is grown and foraged on the Island itself, along with fresh fish and seafood that they catch themselves in order to design a bespoke menu of suggestions in consultation with guests. North Island’s personalised offering doesn’t only include its accommodation and service but extends to the food – as a guest, you can have whatever you fancy anytime and anywhere on the Island. North Island’s chefs are experts at creating dishes that seamlessly complement the mood of each of the many dining venues set amidst the lush landscape of the Island.

Relais & Châteaux members have the utmost respect for the environment and are committed to preserving the local heritage. In tandem with creating a world-class destination, North Island has been working hard at conserving the natural environment through its Noah’s Ark rehabilitation programme. North Island offers a truly unique destination to add to Relais & Châteaux’s 550 landmark hotels and restaurants. Famous for its pristine beaches and lush tropical environment, North Island is a private-island paradise in the Seychelles synonymous with privacy and exclusivity.
